Platform One acoustic sessions at Boojum Saturday 24 June
Boo Jams is a new monthly evening where students from the acclaimed and award-winning college Platform One will perform at Boojum&Snark.
As part of an initiative to inspire a revival in Sandown, Boojum&Snark’s apprentice Harri Jones-Evans approached Ben Allman, lecturer at Platform One, to create a music evening to help students gain confidence as well as bring new experiences to Sandown.
“Sandown needs opportunities for young people to hear, see and experience music and culture. Boo Jams will be a safe performance space and could also encourage people to follow a creative career,” says Harri
“It’s been a pleasure planning this project with Harri. I love what Boojum and Snark do and what they represent. Our students have a great opportunity to hone their craft in sunny Sandown. We can’t wait to get involved” Ben Allman, Platform One
There’s been a concentrated effort to improve the provision for young people in Sandown especially via the Bay Resilience Team. Boo Jams will offer a chance for young people to engage with the inspiring world of music.
The Mayor of Sandown also offered his support:
“Platform One is an excellent college driven to nurture musical and creative talent. It’s brilliant that they are going to be doing events in Sandown.” Paddy Lightfoot, Mayor of Sandown
Boo Jams is on Saturday 24 June 6-9pm. The evening will feature acoustic performances from a variety of Platform One acts and a pop-up record stall provided by AAA Records.
Platform One College of Music was founded in 1999 by brothers David and Peter Pontin. The college has established a reputation for providing inspiring higher education options and programmes for musicians. Alumni include Wet Leg’s, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers.
