Other Half Festival

23, 24, 25 June

The Other Half beer festival returns on 23, 24, 25 June. Celebrating the contribution women are making to the beer industry, the taps and bottle shop will feature brews created by brewsters including Sophie de Ronde of Burnt Mill, Kate Hyde of Hand Brew Co and our very own Julie Jones-Evans who will be showcasing her J-Lo a brut pale ale featuring the Jaryylo hop.

Historically brewing was once a female domain. Women not only brewed at home but opened up their front rooms as alehouses to earn a living. Industrialisation heralded an age of huge breweries with men very much at the fore. The craft brewery movement has changed things up and events such as International Womens Collaboration Brew Day have encouraged women back into the sector. The Other Half festival is really just another way to highlight the contribution women are making. I am looking forward to unveiling my third version of J-Lo, a popular crisp pale ale with wine notes.

Boojum&Snark is a women-led brewpub, community hub and arts space. This year we have won awards for a range of beers that we co-created with Goddards and created Just the Place, an exhibition about Sandown at the Quay Arts which was attended by over 3,500 people.
